Background
Sepsis is the main cause of death on non-cardiological intensive care units and belongs to the most expensive syndromes on modern intensive care units. Moreover the lethality has been invariably high for decades.
Structure
The SepNet trials group is a kind of continuation of the competence network sepsis (SepNet). The support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research ran out in 2010 after almost ten years of support. The legal frame and the long-term financing opportunity for the SepNet trials group are guaranteed by the sepsis foundation.
