According to § 5 of the German "Teledienst-Gesetz" the German Sepsis Society is responsible for their "own content" which they provide for use. "Links" to content from other providers are to be differentiated from these own contents. By using links the German Sepsis Society offers "external contents" which are marked as links. The German Sepsis Society is only responsible for these external contents if they have positive knowledge of these contents (including illegal and criminal contents, too) and if it is technically possible and reasonable to prevent their usage (§ 5 Teledienst-Gesetz).

Links are always defined as "living" dynamic connections. When first linking an external content to their pages, the German Sepsis Society has checked its potential violation of civil and penal law. But, the German Sepsis Society is not obligded to constantly check changes of external contents with respect to their violation of civil and penal law. Only when the German Sepsis Society discovers or is made aware of by others that a content, which they have linked to their page, violates civil and penal law, they will remove the connection to this contact as long as it is technically possible and reasonable. The technical possiblity and reasonability is not effected by the fact that after removing the link from the German Sepsis Society web page these contents with a civil and penal law violation can still be contacted from other servers.
